GRAMPIAN FLYING JUNIOR

I found this boat advertised as an Albacore on Craigslist but there was obviously a mistake because the length was given as 13' 4" and Albacores are 15'. I began some research and found it to be an early Flying Junior built by Grampian of Canada. I almost bought the boat, but I had 11 small boats in the yard, several awaiting restoration. I did inform the seller and hope he found a new owner who would appreciate the boat. The FJ is the most popular boat in college sailing today.

Some FJs (that is the sail insignia) have a double hull but the Grampian had the single hull and was lighter and thus faster. It is advisable to add flotation however!
